Today was a GrEaT day :)

Mommy decided that I should blog today since I'm such a big boy now :)

Today was mommy and Colt day! We got up at our normal time 7:30. I was really up at 7 but I played quietly in my crib to let mommy sleep for a few extra minutes. I must have gotten too excited because mommy heard me over the monitor and came to get me. We got up and ate breakfast. Mommy caught up on Grey's Anatomy while I played. I've totally got this rolling gig down so I can get all of my toys even if they are on opposite ends of the living room. Next mommy watched Gossip Girl. Daddy thinks that show is garbage but I don't pay it any attention I'm more worried about how I can get the little boy that is in the glass on the entertainment center :)

I got tired of all the drama so I decided to take a nap. Mom took advantage of this alone time and took a quick shower and got ready. Dad didn't get home until 3am (he was working the night shift) so mommy was being super quiet not to wake either of us up. Next thing I knew she was waking me up and she was all dolled up and ready to go. I got dressed and we were out the door by 9:45. Mom said that we needed to get to Crabtree Valley Mall early because the traffic is crazy. She says dumb people shouldn't have drivers licenses. Whatever those are.

Once we got to the mall mom was super happy because we got front row parking. We went to NY & Company and tried on work pants for mom. She set off the alarm...TWICE!! Mom was over the moon because she could fit in a smaller size pant than before! She even did a little jig in the dressing room. We didn't buy them though because mom said she still plans on losing more weight and she refuses to buy big pants. I think she's beautiful no matter what size!

Next we went to the Bare Minerals makeup store. Mom got a little make over while I flirted with all the ladies. I got tired though and took a nap. Mom bought new makeup and spent a small fortune. She told me not to tell daddy :) Then we went and bought ME a present since I was such a good boy!! I got new sunglasses!!

We came home and showed daddy all our treasures. We all cuddled in bed for a while until daddy got ready for work. Mommy decided to take me to the park and we had so much fun!! She listened to Van Morrison on Pandora while I played on the blanket. Daddy even took time out of his busy day at work to come see us. He's the greatest.

I loved swinging!

I can't wait until I'm a big boy and can swing on the big swings!

Mom likes taking pictures...

...can you tell??

This is how I roll :)

Hi mommy!

Man this thing tastes good.

I love playing at the park.

Mommy can I wear your sunglasses?

Blue skies like my eyes.

Great day at the park!

Now mommy and I are just hanging out at the house!! I wish every day could be like today. I love spending time with my mommy!

Recap

Since I took over a week hiatus from blogging I figured I would give a brief recap of what's been going on in the Deese household.

Well February 14th as you all know was Valentine's Day or as my mom refers to it as "the 14th day of the LoVe MoNtH". Now "dumb" holidays are not my husbands thing...aka Valentine's Day. Yes I know you should love your baby daddy 365 days out of the year but its always nice to get a little something right?! Oh well baby I got something BIG!!

* * BLING BLING BLING * *

It's not the greatest picture and I will try and post a better one on Facebook but I finally got my double bands!! One for each side. This was the greatest thing Ben could have ever gotten me!! I got my superbowl ring baby!! Big shout out to my husband <3>

Next set of business.

A week after finding tooth #1, pearly white #2 PoPpEd up!! Teething has been a journey to say the least. I never truly understood what people were talking about when they said teething diapers are the worst. Oh they can't be that bad...ohhhh yes they can. We will just leave it at that. BLAH.

Colt has finally gone back to his old ways and is sleeping through the night again. We even have an earlier bed time which mommy LOVES! It feels good to get a solid 8 hours of sleep a night.

So my little man is a rolling machine. You can't take your eyes off of him because he is literally ALL over the place. We are working on sitting up and he knows how but he is just gets so excited while playing with his toys that he flops right over. It's a work in progress. His big cranium doesn't help but with time he will learn to balance it.

If rolling wasn't enough, Colt is now army crawling!! Check out the video on my Facebook! Watch out mommy and daddy the Colt Man will be into everything within a matter of weeks.

Other than that life has been the same old same old. We are sharing a family cold at the moment and it pretty much sucks but it goes with the territory.

Since I haven't posted any pictures in a while here are a few...ok there's a lot but you know you love them :)

Colt loves to read!

ROAR! Isn't that what polar bears do?!

Look mom I can turn the pages!

Smart boys get the girls :)

Check out my Carhartt jeans...does my butt look big in these?!

Eeeeekkk!!

I'm the king of this bed!

You know you love me!

Limber little dude :)

What chu lookin' at Willis?

I swear it wasn't me :)

The love of my life <3

HeLLo LaDiEs :)

The shirt says it all.

Kisses for my baby!!

Now that everyone is up to date I hope you will continue to follow us!!

Boobs

Yes boobs. If you don't want to hear about boobs you might want to stop reading.

I've had this on my chest for a while now (literally) and I just need to put it out there.

We all have them. Big or small. And there not a big deal right? Wrong. Mine are a big deal. HUGE. I provide life with mine. Nutrients and all that good stuff. Colt is almost 7 months old and for those 7 months I have given him everything he needs. And that's a lot of pressure. Drink tons of water, eat healthy, exercise, don't drink alcohol (unless you plan on giving a bottle from your frozen stash) and make sure you don't eat anything that might upset little man's tummy. It can sometimes be overwhelming. I have never been a health nut so this has been a battle.

Aside from eating healthy (when all I really want to do is eat an entire cheese pizza and drink a 2 liter of Diet Coke) I can't take any type of medicine. I have been sick a good 3 times since Colt has been born. I'm currently battling a nasty head cold and what can I take...Tylenol. Seriously? I would kill to be able to take Nyquil. At this point I could drink the whole bottle if it meant I wouldn't be sick anymore. Ok so that's a stretch but you get the point. Nursing limits you to what you can take and its hard.

I love my boobs (I wish they were smaller but it's ok). And I love my son more than the air I need to live and breathe. And Colt loves my boobs too. (Ben loves them too but that's for another blog entry :) )

My original goal was to nurse Colt until he was one. It's not that I am against formula. But why pay for something that I can give for free?

I guess my dilemma is...does it make me a bad mother to want my boobs back?

Am I selfish? If you're not a mom you probably think I'm a nut. I probably am.

Bottom line...I've given it a good run. My overly voluptuous boobs have provided Colt with all he needs. I'm not calling it quits yet but it's only a matter of time.

Moral of todays story BooBieS are amazing and they do wonderful things. They aren't just toys :)

As a side note. Race for the Cure is in June and my team is trying to raise as much money as possible to help find a cure for breast cancer! Please go online and join our team or donate what you can. It's a great cause that I hold close to my heart. Our teams name is "Breast Friends"!! Thanks :)

Show me your pearly whites :)

That's right :) it's official Colt is teething!!

Colt is an incredibly laid back and happy baby so for him to be fussy is out of the normal unless he's hungry or wants your attention. Well that and if he needs to be changed. He's funny. He doesn't like to be dirty. I wouldn't want to sit in my own poop either.

Last night while we were eating Colt got super fussy and I finally gave up, gave him the spoon and let him go to town.

He thought it was funny that I let him make a huge mess because normally mommy likes everything to be super clean.

I love you mommy! Thank you for letting me make a huge mess!

He thinks I'm crazy. A lot of people do. Just don't tell him crazy runs in the family :)

"I've got this mom, stop taking pictures!"

I swear he is the love of my life!!

Colt chomped on that spoon for a good 30 minutes. He even took a bath with it. Shortly after our bath and some more fussiness and Ben nagging me "he's probably teething", I looked in his mouth. There is was. The tiniest little pearly white tooth.

Being the overly excited mom that I am :) I started jumping up and down and doing a super awesome jig! I almost peed my pants. I'm woman enough to admit that.

So now we have a baby that is cutting teeth. Gotta love it. To help ease my little man's pain we gave him some orajel and let me tell you it worked wonders!

Summer squash is on the menu and Colt loves it just like his mommy!

Sleepy baby :) he melts my heart!!

6 Month Checkup!

Yesterday was the dude man's half birthday!!

Today he had his 6 month check up and this is always an exciting time :)

Ben and I always guess what we think Colt will weigh and his length...it's our little game. I know it's dumb but it's the small things in life! Weighing in at 17lbs flat and standing tall at 27inches Colt is officially a BiG BoY!!

It's no secret. Colt has a big head. Lots of BrAiNs. But once again the doctor confirmed it. Colt is still in the 95 percentile. He's a genius. He's going to make lots of money and take care of mommy and daddy.

Today Colt had to get 3 shots and an oral vaccination. One of those included the flu shot. I've never gotten the flu shot. I have my reasons. Don't judge. I want Colt to be protected though. Needless to say it was rough on Colt. He was not happy at all. This is the first time he has gotten shots that I literally almost started crying with him. My poor sweet baby boy. Daddy babied him all day though.

As some of you may know we have been having a sleeping issue. The doctor suggested a little bit of tough love. This should be interesting. Pray for us.

I love counting.

You know you have kids when you know every word to every song from each of their toys.

Ben is washing bottles and I'm preparing Colt's dinner, while Colt plays in his high chair.

All together we sing:

"Counting in the morning and in the afternoon.
Counting in the evening and underneath the moon.
I love counting in my chair I love counting everywhere.
One two three, four five six, seven eight nine ten.
I love counting counting in my chair!"

Ben says to me, "it's sad that we know all the words". It's not sad it's funny!

Avocados didn't go so well the other day. Colt took one bite and said "Heck to the naw!!" Ok so he didn't say those exact words but momma knows when something is a no go.

Yuck Mommy!!

The Rush.

I feel like I am constantly rushing.

Rushing to give Colt his paci at 1:30am and 4:30am. Rushing to feed him at 5:30am in hopes that if he finishes soon enough I can go back to sleep and get another 45 minutes of zZzZzZz. Rushing to get ready every morning, to get Colt to daycare and myself to work on time and without a speeding ticket. Rushing to get through the work day, to get home to my sweet baby. Rushing to wash bottles, do laundry, make dinner and get everything ready for the next day so we can do it all again. I know. You get the point. Sorry.

I feel like I am living my life in fast forward. And I can't find the pause button.

Where does time go? Tomorrow Colt will be 6 months old. I'm so happy but sad at the same time. My baby boy is growing up yet I feel like there is so much I have missed being a full-time working mom. I cherish the time we do get to spend together. I try my hardest to slow down during the week and soak in the few hours we do have together each day. Some days are harder than others.

Starting today I am making it a point to slow down. Stop rushing life. Make the most of every moment.

{We baked apricots tonight and Colt loved them :) I swear he's such a good eater, not picky like his momma!! As I'm typing this I can hear my husband reading to Colt. "I Love Trucks". His animation is hilarious. Cherishing this moment.}

He is my life. The light that brightens my darkest days. He is my son. I love you Colt Isaac Deese.

Rough few days...

I have neglected you blog. I do apologize. It's been a rough few days at the Deese house...

As of yesterday, Colt hadn't pooped in 6 days. For an adult that wouldn't be the end of the world but for an almost 6 month old it's MAJOR. At day 3 we started giving him pear juice which normally helps get things going. Day 4-6 we gave him prunes and water. Nothing. The entire weekend my sweet baby boy was in so much pain and nothing I did seemed to take away his pain. His screams and cries for relief broke my heart and brought me to tears myself. Finally I called Raleigh Peds nurse line through Wake Med. The nurse told me "mother to mother" to try Karo syrup. PRAISE :) Within an hour things got rolling and Colt finally got some relief! Today at daycare, I called to check on my little man and Mrs. Jean had great news. Colt had a major bLoWoUt and when I say major I mean MAJOR! It was so bad I think we have to throw away his clothes. It went up his back, down both legs and up almost under his armpits. Talk about a poop covered baby. I've never been so excited about poop.

I love being outside!

Such a stud muffin.
On a brighter note...

Yesterday we had some amazing weather in the Raleigh area! Colt, mommy and daddy went and played in the front yard and had a blast! It was Colt's first time playing in the grass...well not in the grass but on a blanket. We enjoyed the fresh air.

I made my first batch of baby food this weekend...aside from the bananas I mashed last week. We made prunes to help with Colt's blockage. Yuck. Got to save money though. I asked in a previous post if there was anything my son wouldn't eat? I was sure prunes were going to be a no go. I was wRoNg. He loved them. Who would have thought. Mommy almost gagged. Again. Thankfully today was our last day of prunes. Tomorrow is avocados!! I'm pretty excited about these hopefully Colt is too!

All tuckered out. Snuggling with his dog Scout.
I was trying to give kisses. He was trying to eat my nose.
(Grungy picture of me sorry)

I love you.

Show me the BooBiEs...or the cocaine!

Now before you get your panties in a wad let me explain :)

I stumbled across a new website called babble.com and to pass the time at work I've been catching up on some reading on nursing, how to make the best of the sleep you can get and baby milestones. I read a bunch of articles but two struck a nerve. First let me say I'm not judging, I just have to give my two cents.

The first article was about a woman who is still breastfeeding her 6 year old child. Ummm...I just find that incredibly disturbing. Now I am a firm believer that if one is able, "breastfeed is best". But I'm sorry Colt you will NOT be milking this cow until you are 6 years old. If your child has the ability to tell you they want to nurse and can whip it out for you on their own, I think it's time to call it quits. I'm not saying, I'm just sayin' :)

The second article was about a husband and wife who were selling cocaine out of their house which just happened to be their business as well. Their business - an at home daycare!! Seriously?!?! Lorrrrddd...I could say so many horrible things right now but I will refrain. Needless to say I wouldn't be a happy camper if my child went there!!

I'm sorry officer I didn't know it was cocaine I thought it was baby powder.

They must have been snorting lines off the babies butts to make their 'baby powder' story legit.

On a brighter note - I may be biased but my son is the funniest and cutest kid in the world! His facial expressions kill me. He's got a sassy yet laid back personality and I love him more than anything! End of mushy-ness :)

{Sorry I couldn't pick just one picture!! They were all too cute!!}

The dude man is a little backed up so we had to give him some pear juice to hopefully get things rolling! Sweet potatoes were a huge hit last night :) I'm wondering if there is anything Colt won't eat?!
